Bliznec – a lively creek

In the olden days, the Bliznec creek used to play an important role in the rural life of locals.
Today, this part of Medvednica is still very important, but for a completely different reason. More specifically, lots of hikers and vacationers pour into the park through the entrance located near this creek.
Carriages and water mills are no longer a common sight, but there are streams of cars bringing visitors to the most popular trails of Medvednica.

In 2011, an informative kiosk was set up alongside Bliznec, near the above-mentioned entrance to the Medvednica Park. This information center can answer all you questions about Medvednica and Medvedgrad.
Find out how much time you need to get to the top, where the best trails are, whether you should watch out for animals in the woods, where you can have a plate of beans, the best sites on Medvednica, etc.
Our kiosk staff is available on weekends and will gladly answer all your questions.

In addition to advice from our staff, at the Bliznec Info Center you can get various maps and brochures to help you with navigation while on Medvednica. The Decode Medvednica Guidebook is an excellent roadmap that will guide you to the places you want to reach.
At the kiosk, you can also get the traveler’s map to Medvednica that will help you find your way among the multitude of trails and paths.
Brochures and flyers will introduce you to the main contents and attractions of Medvednica – and you can also buy some souvenirs as a memento of your visit to Medvednica.

The Mysterious Natura 2000 Maze

The Natura 2000 Maze is located near the Bliznec Information Center. The maze showcases valuable plant and animal species of Medvednica – which are the heritage of the European Union.
Next to the kiosk, there is a geological column showing the geological history of Medvednica – so you can learn a few tidbits about its rock composition.
